Put on your plaid-or kilts if you have one- and join us for the 2018 Highland
Games in Laurinburg, NC. We will rendezvous at Freeman?s Grill in Bolton,
NC (on NC 211 just south of its intersection with US 74) where those who
wish can start the day with a good breakfast. We will leave there at 8:45
AM and head west on US 74 to Laurinburg. The games are held on the
grounds of the John Blue House which will be open for touring. Parking is
off site at a nearby location and there is a shuttle to the grounds or you can
make the short walk if you prefer. It is recommended that we buy
advance tickets to avoid waiting in lines on the day of the event. Tickets can
be purchased at www.games-tickets.com for $12.00 per person. There are
bleachers on site but you may want to bring your own chairs for comfort.
Food and drink vendors will be available for lunch or snacking. We hope to
arrive in time for the opening ceremonies which begin at 11:00 AM.
Games and competitions go on until 4:00 PM. We will leave at 4:00 PM in
order to arrive for dinner at 5:00 PM in Whiteville at The Chef and The Frog.
After dinner, we will make the 1 1⁄2 hour trip home. We will have a full day.
As of this printing, we have 13 cars participating. We would ask anyone
who would like to join this event that has not replied to us to please do so
by September 15 so that we can finalize our planning with the restaurant.
Our contact information is firstname.lastname@example.org or (910) 253-5336.
More information about the games is available at
www.carolina-highlandgames.com. Advance tickets can be purchased at
www.games-tickets.com. The Chef and The Frog website is
www.ChefNC.com. We will be sending out an itinerary with rendezvous
information, driving directions, car groupings and leaders approximately
one week before the event.
We look forward to a fun time!
Your hosts, Ron and Judy Carmichael
